COUNTDOWN TO A
POST-ROE AMERICA
Our federally protected right to abortion is likely coming to an end.
Here’s what’s happening and what you can do today to protect abortion rights near you.
The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) announced they will hear a case out of Mississippi that bans abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. Their decision to take up this case is a direct challenge, intended to overturn the landmark abortion case, Roe v. Wade. With a 6-3 conservative majority Supreme Court, the justices will decide “whether all pre-viability prohibitions on elective abortions are unconstitutional.”
If SCOTUS upholds this ban and decides to overturn or gut Roe v. Wade, the impacts on abortion access in the U.S. will be devastating. Over 20 states would prohibit abortion outright, and eleven states- including Mississippi- currently have trigger laws on the books which would instantaneously ban abortion if Roe is overturned. Though the decision won’t come down until next June, it’s important to remember that right now abortion is still legal in every state!
Our friend and author, Robin Marty, wrote this incredible book “The New Handbook for a Post-Roe America” with tons of information and resources including ways to get involved, how to provide support to those seeking abortion care, and what to know about self-managed abortions.
What happens to abortion
access in my state if
Roe v. Wade falls?
The Center for Reproductive Rights put together this interactive map and they’re tracking legislation in every state to determine what happens to abortion access in each state if Roe v. Wade falls.
Where do I go if
I need an abortion?
As states continue to pass abortion bans and with the uncertainty of the fate of abortion access in the US, we encourage you to use this nifty map from our friends at Abortion Care Network to find the nearest clinic to you. Abortion is STILL LEGAL in every state, but we know that legal doesn't mean accessible. Majority of people have to travel outside of their community in order to access abortion care. If travel or procedure costs create a barrier to you accessing care, find your local abortion fund here to learn about what resources are available to you.

What can I do to help?
Organizations all over the country are taking action and supporting those who will be most impacted by this decision. Below is a list of organizations you can donate to right now to support abortion access in the 13 "trigger law" states; Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.
We also have links to abortion funds in Colorado, our home and a haven state for abortion care, and nationally, to help provide financial support to folks traveling out of state to access abortion care.
